Romance Novel Convention

I will be attending the Romance Novel Convention in Las Vegas this summer! I went to this convention in 2013, but was unable to attend last year. I missed it. So I was thrilled to find out that I could go this year, and what’s more – I’m going to be teaching at it!

The dates are June 24 – 28, at the Harrah’s Casino Motel on the strip, right next to the High Roller ferris wheel. That will be new for me, as it was in the Golden Nugget two years ago.

So why am I so excited? Because this is a really FUN convention! There is something going on constantly from 8 am until midnight, every day. Of course, if you don’t want to participate in one of the events, no one’s forcing you. But if you really want to enjoy yourself, you’ll do it all.

During the day there are many great workshops you can attend. There are some on the business of writing, like self-promotion and branding, or tax information, or even planning for retirement. There are a lot on writing, as you would expect. Creating dialog, writing hot romance, critique groups, or pre-launch strategies. There is a section for cover artists – about cover design principles. There are authors’ panels, readers’ panels, and a new section – great information for authors on a wide variety of non-related topics, such as how to stay fit with a desk job, self-defense, and how to cut your grocery bills in half.

I will be teaching my workshop, Do It Yourself Editing, a Guide for the eBook Author, as well. In my workshop, I will share with you suggestions for rewriting and revising your novel, what editing mistakes to look for, and all you need to know to polish up your completed story.

In addition to the workshops, there are fun events. The kickoff party is Wednesday night, and a costume ball on Thursday. Friday is a “night on the town” – your tickets to a show are included in your registration. There’s a murder mystery to solve, the Casanova Cabaret, the photo shoot with a fantastic photographer (It’s where I got my head shot) and nightcaps with the cast and crew.

There’s a book fair on Saturday, with free parking for guests – so hopefully that will draw in a crowd! There will be a live band, best-selling authors and models, and more.

So if you plan to go – sign up soon! And tell them I sent you!
