Begin Again

I just joined a blog-hop, and I’m not even sure what a blog hop is! Here’s the link:

The challenge was to write a post a day for twenty-eight days, beginning each with a letter of the alphabet. So June 1 should have been A, the second 3, etc. However, I recently posted about “clichés” so I’m going to call that my “C” day, and today I’ll do “B”. Sorry if that’s “as clear as mud.”

Anyway, Begin Again is part of our lives. We are constantly in a state of beginning and ending, growing and changing, making new decisions, or clinging to old choices. It is part of the human condition.

There is an old adage, “All Beginnings are Difficult,” or as I first learned it in my high school German class, “aller anfang zind schwer.” There is a similar idiom, “The Journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” I like that one better. The first states a fact. The second presents a roadmap. Of course, beginnings are difficult! We have to step out of our comfort zone. We have to change. A new beginning means doing something different, changing our course, trying something we’ve never tried before. That can be scary! But a single step – that’s easy. No one wants to plan a trip of a thousand miles – especially on foot. That is overwhelming! But anyone can take a single step.

So for whatever beginnings you have to face today, relax. You don’t have to achieve the ultimate goal. You only have to take one single baby step in the right direction. Eventually, you’ll get there.
