What’s the Secret to a Happy, Successful Marriage?

I thought today I’d post a question instead of answering one. If you’ve been married for ten years or more, please take a moment and share some advice for other couples who might be struggling in their relationship.

I’ll go ahead and enter the first post. I’ve been married for 36 years to my best friend. I believe one reason why we have made it together is our mutual respect. I don’t just love him with that fleeting feeling of desire, but I love the person he is. I admire him. I do not talk bad about him behind his back. Our friends all know that we are devoted to one another. I feel that a relationship must be built on respect if it is going to survive the test of time.
